We love our honey bees. You can find some of their raw, unprocessed honey in the hut most seasons. This is a really healthy frame of bees we opened up to check for honey in spring of 2014. This is a healthy frame of bees.

Prep Time: Less Than 30 minutes
Servings: Enough for about 1 lb of meat

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup peanut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely minced
  • 1 serrano pepper, thinly sliced, leave seeds for extra spice
  • Kosher salt
  • 2 cups raspberry, pureed (about 2 small containers)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Refrigeration Time: 1 hour
Bake: 1 hour
Cook: 3 minutes
Servings: 8

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup superfine sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh raspberries
  • Fresh mint and whipped cream (optional)

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Refrigeration Time: 2 hours
Servings: 9


LIME SQUARE INGREDIENTS
  • 7 graham cracker squares
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 4 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (14 ounces) fat-free sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons lime zest
  • Blueberry-Pineapple Salsa (recipe below)

BLUEBERRY-PINEAPPLE SALSA INGREDIENTS

  • 1-½ cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 12

INGREDIENTS
      • 1 lemon1/2 cup sugar
      • 1 cup nonfat buttermilk, (see Tip)1/3 cup canola oil
      • 1 large egg
      • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
      • 1 cup white whole-wheat flour, or whole-wheat pastry flour (see Shopping Tip)
      • 1 cup all-purpose flour
      • 2 teaspoons baking powder
      • 1 teaspoon baking soda
      • 1/4 teaspoon salt
      • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen (not thawed) raspberries
